Asus UX510UW keyboard backlight not working

Hi there,

I have Windows 10 running on my Asus UX510UW Laptop, but unfortunately the keyboard backlight isn't working.

I have tried installing following versions of ATKACPI:
100039
100041
100043
100050
100051
100053

There is a popup showing up when I press FN + F3 or FN + F4, but the backlight doesn't go on.
Every other hotkey is working as expected.

Is there anything else I can do to make it work or is the backlight broken?

Did you get it with Windows 8 and then upgrade to 10? If so, I think it could be driver related issues. You might want to visit Asus's website and see if they have the proper Windows 10 driver there to download. I have a keyboard (Merc Stealth) that has the wrong driver. They never made a Windows 10 driver for it. It has quirks because of it. It is usable, but I don't get all the features. Sounds like that might be a similar issue to you.

No I bought it with Windows 10 and the backlight has never worked so far.

The ATKACPI I mentioned is the only driver package I found on the Asus website (and other websites).
But I recognised that although the ATK package was installed, the keyboard driver version in the device manager didn't change.

Oh. In that case it sounds like it is just a defective product. Since it has never worked I would see about returning it. Seems to me that the backlight is just broke. It could simply be a loose connection, but I am not sure how laptop warranties work, if opening up the unit yourself will void the warranty or not.
