Just hoping a few wise souls will take a minute and let me know whether I'm making any bonehead moves with the following build. Namely:

1) Will everything fit inside the case?
2) Will there be enough and the right kind of connectors?
3) Any other compatibility issues?
4) Would you tweak anything specific?

Thank you!

1) Plenty of cheaper motherboards. ROG is very nice, but also has many many features that you will likely never use.
2) GTX 1080 Ti
3) 256GB NVMe SSD for the OS. 1TB SATA SSD for whatever else, then a single 2-4 TB drive for bulk storage.
4) No need for a 1000W power supply. Even overclocked a single GPU system like that could easily get away with 650W. (Use the savings on the GTX1080 Ti)
5) Full tower case is unnecessary, but if you really want one, go for it. With a single GPU, a mid tower is more than sufficient for airflow.

Great advice! I like the recommendations on hard drives. I haven't been following SSD developments the past few years and NVMe is a bit of a mystery to me but now I'll check it out. I also wasn't sure about the PSU. Sending a few of those dollars to another component might just be what this build needs. Thanks!

Glad to help:)
You should also get a 280mm AIO if it fits in the case you decide on (fits in any of the 3 I mentioned), noticeably better performance. I recommend the NZXT Kraken x62. Quieter pump and fans so you don't have to buy aftermarket fans on top.
