Problem with Laptop not Shutting Down Properly

One of my laptops is no longer able to be shut down through clicking "shut down" in windows. All I can do is hold down the power button until it shuts off. I have tried reseating the battery, memory, and boot drive, but with no luck. Any ideas?

I'd check your laptop's power settings. Make sure it's set to like normal and than try.

can be damaged anti virus or program holding the pc from shutting down. see if it shuts down in safe mode (f8); if it does try uninstalling anti virus see if it shuts down fine. if it does try and reinstall it. if not you may have to back your data up and do a factory reinstall of windows if it damaged.
