Another 4k@60Hz UHD TV fail - Samsung 40KU6300

certified HDMI 2.0 cable
Windows 7 64Bit

Amd catalyst shows: max supported resolution 4k 75Hz (as expected from 1.2a display port)

windows control panel shows 3840x2160 in bold (recommended)

Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) shows 3840x2160 @ 60.000 Hz as first Detailed Resolutions

It should work, but doesn't, 4k is only 30Hz, if I try 60Hz tv shows black screen and after a few seconds: "check your cables"

I read dozens of threads in this site and others, I tried:

- Update drivers.
- TV in PC mode, HDMI port 1 with UHD color enabled.
- all the pixel formats (4:4:4, 4:2:2, etc)
- 8bpc/10bpc/12bpc
- plug/unplug cables, reboot PC multiple times

No success. Any ideas before I give up?

what are you displaying to the tv and what from?

I'm trying to use the tv as a monitor, so I'm displaying my windows desktop I guess..

after a bit of searching round, it seems that anyone else that has tried to get a R9 270X to output 4K @ 60hz via an adapter just simply can't get it to go beyond 30hz

@blockhead78: Could you please link what you found?

I found:

- clueless people trying to direct connect via hmdi cable. R9 270x has hdmi 1.4 port so obviously doesn't work.
- R9 270x direct connect via displayport to a 4k@60Hz monitor, working.
- R9 290x using active adapter + hdmi cable connect to a UHD TV, working.

ah my bad... after checking the posts again they were old posts before hdmi 2.0 capable adapters were available amd it was the R9 290, not the 270

have you tried any other HDMI ports on the TV other than port 1?

go to your amd graphics settings and go into display. i don't have amd so i can't guide you exactly but you should find a refresh rate setting. make sure your pulged into the tv

@blockhead78: yea, I've tested all the tv and gpu ports.

@ComputerGeek21: yea, I've tried to change the refresh rate to 50Hz, 59Hz and 60Hz, unfortunately anything above 30Hz doesn't work.

Oddly enough, one mini display port "behaves" differently from the other, being able to display even 4096x2160, anyway none can go above 30Hz. I'm inclined to believe this is not possible due to electrical/electronic discrepancies being this gpu a modified/overclocked version.

okay are you "Duplicating" your display?
if so that's probably your problem, set it to just display on the tv (second display only)
use Winkey + p to change this on windows 10
