Help buying new GPU

Hello. So recently my Radeon HD 7870 2GB stopped working on me. I am now using the onboard one and I want to buy a new one.

I play most of the mainstream titles, so that means lots of gaming. I just want a GPU that can last a bit on high settings at 60fps and can make good use of my new CPU too.

My specs:
CPU: Intel i5-6600 3.3GHz
RAM: 8 GB
Windows 8.1 (will upgrade to 10 soon)

My screen is pretty old, and max resolution is 1680x1050. Yeah, I know. But changing it is almost out of the equation as I am not financially independent. But it doesn't concern me that much since I just want to play new games (which I buy on discount mostly)

My budget is around 250 euros and I was checking a 1050ti or a 1060 3GB now with the damn mining crisis. (plus european gpu prices were higher since day 1 of the new gpus)

So should I got for one of those or should I be a bit patient for the prices to drop a little?
With some research I did though, the 1050ti is not THAT much better than my previous 7870.

Thank you for your help.

I would go with a 1050ti. The 3GB version from the 1060 is not worth it.
You're on a monitor with a lower resolution than native 1080P (1920 x 1080)
So you should be fine with a 1050TI.

Hmm yeah that is what I am thinking too, but from benchmarks that I saw, the 1050ti is starting to have some framerate issues on High(not ultra) on many newer games and I would not like to start looking for a new gpu after 1 year or so. That is why I was thinking the 1060 or wait a bit.

You're playing on a lower resolution, and the 1050ti is a great card for the price.
But the 1060 will definitely give you some extra performance.
