Will this cable be good enough to have the monitor run at 144hz in 1440p?

Yes, that DP cable would work for your XL2730 to run 1440p/144Hz, as the monitor only includes a DVI-D Dual Link cable in the box.

Based on specs (page 9 of the manual), the DVI-D of the XL2730 only supports 1440p/60Hz (not 144Hz). The DP (as well as the HDMI2.0 socket) of the monitor does support 1440p/144Hz. But it's better to use the DP as the HDMI2.0 may face some incompatibility issues.
