I'm hoping I can avoid buying a new HDD and a new OS by just using my current one. However, I no longer have the windows 10 product key. Is it possible for me to upgrade my case, cpu, and motherboard all while keeping at least my operating system?

You do not need to buy a new OS.
Read and do this before you change any parts:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3164428/windows-build-1607-activation.html

Will your existing Win10 install on that drive magically boot up in the new hardware?
Maybe, maybe not.

You may need to do a full reinstall.
Prepare for that.

Yes, You can. Since you are moving your HD to a new hardware setup, windows need to be reinstalled since there is a change in the hardware. A fresh install basically is better for the windows to run smoothly on your new hardware.

Edit: OEM windows must be transferred to the new hardware you will be using and can be transferred to your new hardware by calling Microsoft Support.

Good Luck.:) Peace.

Yeah it might boot. Windows 10 driver support is so much better than 7/8/8.1 in my opinion. Windows support very helpful for licence issues. Basically what 1st 2 replies said
