Help with Monitor Refresh rate

I have an LG 42LB6500 SmartOS TV that claims to have 100hz refresh rate. When I connect my Laptop to it through HDMI Cord it says "1080p 60HZ" and the alround looks of my screen is terrible. Im using a normal consumer laptop because I haven't finished my gaming pc yet. any help?

You have to read manual of the TV.
Look for section of supported PC resolutions.

BTW - HDMI doesn't support refresh rates above 60Hz.

Probably there is none.
TVs are really not meant for that.

skynet i'm gona pretend that you didn't say taht hdmi can't go faster then 60hz
anyway its dependant on the version of hdmi i lost my graph but i think hdmi 1.4 and above supports 100hz

any use display port because it can run at 144hz at 1080p resolution or DVI works too
anyway configuring tvs to co-operate with computers is a challenge, start with your graphic drivers settings and make sure you only display on the tv if using a computer
winkey + p and set it to "second display only"

Once I get my gaming PC I will try it on my tv and if it doesnt do what I want i will just have to save some more for a monitor.
