Unable to create internet connection

My friend just had her computer reformatted and Windows XP reinstalled. Yes, I know it's a dinosaur, but she's adamant about not moving to a new OS. Now every time she tries to set up a new internet connection, she is getting a "not enough disk space" error. Also, she has a RAID controller with a yellow exclamation point in her Device Manager. Also, when she attempts to open a device's properties, no window opens. There is simply no reaction. I realize this isn't much information, but whatever else is needed to get to a solution simply ask and I will deliver.

go into bios and set the sata controller to "compatibility" or "IDE" mode and see what happens.
