Formula for calculating screen real estate.

How do you calculate screen size across different aspect ratios? My Predator X34 is nowhere near as big as a 34" 16:9 monitor would be. Another example is the Galaxy S8+ it has a 6.2" 2:1 screen but it's nowhere near as wide as a 16:9 6.2" screen would be. Does anyone have the formula for calculating screens in square inches since you can't really compare diagonal across different aspect ratios?
