Hello,
I'm using Lenovo Thinkcentre M92p with i5 3550. I've upgraded CPU to i7 3770. Nothing is overclocked.
With i5 I get 25C idle temp, with i7 30-35.
i5 load temps are 45-50, i7 55-65.

All parameters of the machine being completely the same. Same thermal paste properly applied. Case is well maintained without dust.

Why the i7 develops higher temperature? Performance wise, it is somewhat better, but maybe 5-10% at best.

Well according to specifications they both have 77w tdp.
Would it help to install heat-pipe cpu cooler (currently there is Lenovo aluminium one, a little larger than Intel's stock)?

Yes, same cooler.
When I turn off the HT, temps go back 5-10 degrees, which is ridicolous because they're just logical, not real cores.

Thermal paste is reapplied properly.
If I were sure that the another CPU cooler would lower the temps, I would invest in that.

As others have said I can confirm you're fine.

HT is basically a way to force the CPU to do more work with the same components. Therefore it produces more heat and uses more power.
