So it has been 10+ years since I had a good desktop PC. I would like to build one this time and want it last 4-6 years before having to replace the machine (GPU replacement is fine). Games I will be wanting to play are PUBG, Heroes of the Storm, and Starcraft 2 to name a few. Good recommendations on a keyboard and mouse would be nice.

Approximate Purchase Date: Next couple weeks.

Budget Range: $1,000 - $1,200

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, programming, surfing the internet

Are you buying a monitor: No
Your Monitor Resolution: I have 2x 1920x1080 @ 60Hz, 5ms (Dell E23llH)

Parts to Upgrade: All

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: n/a
Location: Philadelphia PA

Parts Preferences: Air cooling, fully modular PSU

Overclocking: Maybe (as long as it is easy and don't need water cooling)

SLI or Crossfire: No

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Figured it was about time to start playing PC games again. Also thought it would be good to do some programming at home.

No not particularly. I do like the idea of being able to throw some LEDs into the tower at some point.

Thanks jpe1701 looks pretty solid. I assume it is better to invest the $100 now for the Ryzen 7 over the 5 (1600)?

Well I thought about the 1600 with a stronger GPU but it's easier to swap out graphics cards than upgrade CPU. But if you are playing higher resolution or higher refresh rate a 1070 and 1600 would be better.

Yeah I have heard that swapping the CPU isn't the easiest thing to do.

I probably won't upgrade my monitors anytime soon. At least for 9+ months. When I do upgrade them, then i assume a 1070/1080 be perfectly fine?
