Intel Celeron N3450 users please help

Hello, since I am looking for a laptop for school, I want to be portable, but also capable, of helping me in Computer Science classes.

I have found this ASUS 14 inch notebook, with 4gb ram, ssd and this, Intel N3450 laptop.
So I would like to know, maybe if anyone has had some experience with this cpu, if it is really slow, since it's not i3 or i5, or just capable of doing programming, excel and all that good stuff?

Looks like its somewhere around an old AMD A8-5550 multi-core wise and a i3-4010y single core. So It should be ok for what you are going to use it for.

If the question is, "Is a Celeron slow?"

Then the answer is yes, the Celeron brand which the N3450 is a member of is the lowest performing processor Intel makes, besides Atom.

Do note the 1.1 gigahertz base speed, which is a frequency from the 1990s.

It is capable of running excel and programming and all that other good stuff, it just won't do it in a hurry.

For comparison the cpu in the new Samsung S8 smartphone, a Exynos 8895, uses about 5 watts.

Versus 6 watts for the Intel Celeron N3450.

If you have to run your code through a compiler then the celeron is going to be quite noticeably slow.

I would recommend at least getting an i3 CPU.
