W10 - PC + Games crashing

Hi,

I'm looking for assistance as :
- my games crash after around 10 minutes (not necessarily hard games to run.. I'm crashing in Overwatch, CSGO...)
- my PC will also crash when in game, but less frequently (1 out of 3 crashes is the PC)

My PC is 5 months old, all pieces were brand new and I have not noticed any problem in the last months. This started happening about 10 days ago and I really don't know what could have started it...

Things I've tried :

  • - re-installing W10 from scratch
    - Updating NVIDIA drivers
    - Checking the BIOS for any strange configuration, but everything looks OK - GPU is not OC
    - Checked the cabling inside the PC
    - I've noticed very short CPU spikes at 100% but I'm not sure they are related to the crashes.

I spent hours looking at related posts but nothing software-wise has worked, I'm a bit discouraged as I've read it could come from the Motherboard.
The PC runs fine when "idle", for example when I'm browsing the web.

Here are my specs :

- Operating System
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
- CPU
Intel Core i7 7700K @ 4.20GHz 51 °C
Kaby Lake 14nm Technology
- RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1500MHz (15-17-17-35)
- Motherboard
MSI Z270 PC MATE (MS-7A72) (U3E1) 41 °C
- Graphics
ROG PG348Q (3440x1440@60Hz)
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (NVIDIA) 44 °C
- Storage
223GB KINGSTON SHFS37A240G (SSD) 38 °C
931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-08WN4A0 (SATA) 40 °C

Here are some crash examples that I'm getting in game :

Here's the Critical message when the PC crashes :

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Finally, not sure if it can be of use, here's a pic from OCCT :

Solution
Which power supply is it?

boot with memtest86+ (usb installer from memtest86.org)

check SSD with the Kingston tool
check HDD with the WD tool

check temperature with intel processor diagnostics tool

run furmark stress test for about 10min and post the temp

BIOS version up to date?

Intel ME Interface software up to date?

Hey Mohan_27,

Yes so far it's only in games that the PC or games crash. However, it's the only "big" application that I run on my PC.
They are all installed correctly, I have reinstalled W10 and also reinstalled games several times just in case.

Here's a screen of the RAM in the BIOS, it looks alright to me.

Isn't 60° a little high for a CPU ??

60 is fine, are there specific games that crash?

I didn't know about this tool, I used it, removed all drivers then reinstalled the latest driver, still crashing.

My power supply is : Corsair CP-9020098-EU VS Series VS650 ATX/EPS 80 PLUS 650W Alimentation PC EU
Link : https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00LMBT0IO/ref=pe_386181_40444391_TE_item

The BIOS version was definitely not up to date, went to MSI site and performed the update from 1.1 to 1.6.

Thank you for all the suggestions, I will do what you said and post back when it's done :)

check that RAM is installed correctly (gap between them) => Yes

check SSD with the Kingston tool => Checked, all is OK
check HDD with the WD tool => Checked, all is OK

check temperature with intel processor diagnostics tool => Pass on ALL tests.

run furmark stress test for about 10min and post the temp => Did that for 20 minutes on 4K 3440/1440, temperature went up to 85° but it was stable. At 16 min screen went black for 2 seconds but the app did not crash and things went back to normal.

BIOS version up to date => Installed latest version

Intel ME Interface software up to date? => Could not find the appropriate driver, every time is says I'm on the wrong system

I had very little time before going to work, so I did just open CSGO and play for 15 minutes straight with no crash.
I am back home on Sunday so I'll do further checks, but it's quite possible that the BIOS update fixed the crashed.

If I still have the problem, I still have to try what you suggested :
boot with memtest86+ (usb installer from memtest86.org)

In any case, I will let you know on Sunday.

How does your applications crash?
Do they close instantly?
Do they freeze before?

I was able to test today and played 2 matches of CSGO and an hour of guild wars 2 with no crashes.
The BIOS update fixed it !

Thank you so much for your time and kind help regarding my issue.
