Is it possible to run two monitors of different resolution from one graphics card?

I recently got a new 4k monitor and tried to replace it with one of the two 1080p monitors I had in my setup before. When I plugged it in both monitors starting turning on and off and jumping around resolutions. So I was wondering if it was possible to run a 4k monitor and a 1080p monitor off of one graphics card. When I try to press detect on the display settings the 4k monitor looses signal, even when it is the only display connected. Could it be that my pc is not good enough to run a 4k display? A certain type of cable I should use for it?

yes. all the new GPUs that are available in the market can handle more than 1 monitor.

Your graphic cards needs to support multiple monitors and have multiple ports. All of the gpus from the past couple of years can.
