plug in earphones - device not supported

hello. good day. I'm using a dell inspiron laptop.

when I plug in my earphones, I get these messages

Audio is not routed to earphones.

googling "setef3e.tmp" returns zero result


anyone knows the solution? any help is greatly appreciated

do the earphones have three black lines on the plug? those are combination mic and headphones, computer have separate plugs for each and cannot use them

thanks R_1, it's a stereo earphone (2 black lines). Weird, it used to work in the past

It would have been helpful if you'd posted the make and model of the earphones or headset you're having problems with.

I removed the device in device manager, and let windows re-install it automatically. and now it is working again. thanks for the help guys

I am having the same problem, mine is 3 black strips though, it was working fine since I got the laptop about a year ago but after the last update it keeps telling me they are not supported. What device did you remove from the device manager? I can't find my headphones in there but I did uninstall the Speakers/Headphones (Realtek Audio) and it reinstalled it automatically but there is no change and they are still not working.
