8GB+16GB DDR4Ram Mix??

I have the NEW OMEN 2017 -It came with an 8GB DDR4 2400 MHz ram module leaving one free slot.
Can I put a 16GB Stick in that slot to get a total of 24GB ? I have seen lists of combos for the new OMEN like 8GB + 4GB etc but no mention of 8GB + 16GB.... Just need to make sure so I don't damage it or buy in vain.
-In my mind, if you can combo 8 + 4 you should be able to combo 8 + 16 ??
Thankful for any thoughts on the matter.

1. In all likelihood, yes - although the "max RAM" support of the motherboard will play a part. Some will 'cap' at 16GB (ie 2x8GB).

2. "Mixing and matching" RAM, even *identical* modules not sold together (so 2x single 8GB modules) can be problematic. Not a guarantee either way.
