Q9650 vs A10-7800 CPU comparison

Title is pretty self explanatory. using either one of these for my HTPC. Current is a Q9650 with 8GB DDR2 800. Picked up a A10-7800 and mobo for cheap. thinking about swapping them. I got 8GB Ram ddr3 for the A10. Just looking for the communities thoughts between the two. I do play the rare steam game using big picture mode. using it with a 750Ti so the ram speeds and the GPU in the APU wont matter so its just CPU performance.

i would go with the A10. just cause it can handle the workload better. HOWEVER if you can get the Q9650 to handle the workload without slowing down. then keep the Q9650. what OS are you using?

Currently the Q9650 setup is Win7 Pro. The A10 setup is running Win10 since whoever i bought it off of had it activated to the MOBO.

1. test the q9650 with netflix and whatever media you plan on doing with it. try to multitask. if it shows signs of slowdown. then it wont be good for your htpc and go with the A10. 2. run pandora, netflix, and a dvd at the same time on the q9650. turn the volume down on netflix and the dvd, only having sound on pandora. if the music skips. then you know it can handle multi tasking for a htpc. good luck!
