Hello, I have a Dell Vostro 3550 laptop. Here's the issue. If I use the generic video driver, the laptop screen is fine, but can't clone it to my projector. If I update the video drivers (Intel HD 3000), my laptop screen disappears and is only on my projector HDMI. As a test, I plugged a monitor into the VGA port and voila, the video is there too...but not on my main screen. I tried clone, extend, only PC, only 2nd screen...no good. Can someone please help??? Thank you!!

Solution
If this the same keyboard layout for your laptop:

Then tap the FN+F1 key until you see a display on your laptop's screen while not having anything connected to the external video output ports.

Yes, that's the keyboard. I've tried all different combinations and still nothing on the laptop screen. For some reason, when I choose clone or extend, it shows up on the VGA port and HDMI, but still nothing on the main screen. When everything is disconnected, the laptop screen is still blank.
