Memory slots, is there any difference between the dual channels?

Hello all,

I have Asrock Z270 Extreme4 mobo with 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200Mhz. Memory is installed in #1 and #3 slots however I am unable to turn on XMP in BIOS. It's unable to boot and resets the settings to its default 2133Mhz. I have tried voltage tweaks as suggested in this forum in several threads with no success. I have read somewhere it could be a solution (with this MOBO) to change the slots to use #2 and #4 instead. Does it make sense? I'm unable to try this immediately but I thought channels shouldn't matter when using dual slots only (#1-#3 or #2-#4). Any thought on this?

It makes no difference performance wise whether your in the first channel or second channel. They both run dual channel speeds.
It can make a difference to your problem however, as it will be running in a different channel. So it's worth a try. Have you also updated to latest bios?

Your motherboard manual should tell you which slots to use first with new RAM.
