Hello

Im in the dire situation that i lost my USB flash drive and dont have any DVD-r/rw lying around and cant afford a stack of them atm :/

Though i do have a stack of old CD-R's and would like to here how i would go about burning a windows 10 image out over 7 CD's instead of a dvd.. ?

I know how to get the latest image of Windows 10 via Media creator tool and have seen a article about a guy that spread the installation over 400 (aprox) diskettes just for fun..

So im thinking i should be able to do it over cd's as well?

The info i can find via google is limited.. so your help is appreciated

I don't think it is possible.

Your best bet is to go to a retailer and buy a 4GB flash drive. They're selling these days for $15 or less. That way you'll be able to go the easier route of USB installation via Windows Media Creation Tool.

Actually, 5GB or larger. The install file size has grown.

When did this change?

Sometime in the last year:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
"A blank USB flash drive with at least 5 GB of space or blank DVD (and DVD burner) if you want to create media. We recommend using a blank USB or blank DVD, because any content on it will be deleted. "

And I just tested that 4-5GB concept, writing to a known 4GB USB stick.

Contrary to what MS says about "5GB"....a 4GB USB does work...:pt1cable:
But the price difference at the store for a 4GB vs a 8GB is trivial. Get the 8GB.
