Samsung SA550 goes black when a signal is inputted

Found a nice Samsung 27" monitor at goodwill for a couple of bucks and picked it up. When I powered it on it would show the normal searching for signal screen but once I plugged in an input the screen would just go black. I tried both the HDMI and VGA port with no success. I found an older post with the same issue saying the firmware needed an update. I downloaded the firmware updater from Samsung, plugged the monitor into my windows 10 laptop via HDMI and the updater kept crashing and would not work. I then plugged the monitor into my desktop, running windows 7, and the updater ran but said that the monitor had the latest firmware installed. I'm not sure where to go from here and can't seem to find any other help online.

The monitor's broken. The monitor board may be damaged by xyz reason.
