Can I make a desktop notification that comes up on the desktop on a certain date

I want to be reminded of something I have to put out on a certain date how can I make it so when I turn on the computer on that date a notification comes up on the desktop after startup.

I tried in Windows going to calendar and created an event on today's date for a test and restarted the computer and nothing came up. So I don't trust it working on any future date.

Is there an application that works, nothing fancy just a simple text message on the desktop?

You can use Google calendar to remind you of an event and you will get a notification on the lock screen of your mobile a day before the event is due

Google Calendar isn't just for mobiles, it works on Windows 10 PC as well. You can actually integrate it in to the built-in calendar in Windows 10:
