Hello people of Tom's Hardware

I come back once agian with another question. To get started I am running a 1060 with an i5 4590.
And I am thinking of upgrading my 60hz to a 144hz monitor. Should I get a 1080p or a 1440p? I am flustered from all the options and I need some guidance, what would be the best resolution, refresh rate and should I get g-sync?

Any answer would probably help!

Thanks, Rojo.

Well, the 1060 will get higher FPS @1080p but in the long run you may be happier with 1440p if you have plans to upgrade to a higher end gpu later on that will run 1440p better. Assuming your budget is in USD here's 2 good g-sync options 1 @1080p and 1 at 1440p. Personally I'd go with 1440p with gysnc.

Which is why I said it was ok, its not going to hold minimum 144fps in many games and may need settings dropping to hold over 100 fps in others but if you don't mind that it does ok.

Wow I'm sorry I completely misread your post. Thought you said not good enough for 1080p 144Hz.

So are you saying that I should purchase the 1440p monitor if I am going to upgrade? I don't see myself upgrading in a couple of years so would it be smarter to stick with the 1080p?
