Is this upgrade worth it?

Currently I am running three channel 2400Mhz DDR4 3x8GB RAM.

Is it worth the $279 upgrade for a new quad channel kit? Same specs.
This would be for gaming purposes. Is the increase noticeable from three channel to quad?

My original RAM is no longer manufactured making it impossible to match together a new stick.

Short answer... No. especially if you have to spend $279.

3 RAM sticks vs. 4 RAM sticks will not make a difference, at least not noticeable difference. Plus, your RAM is not running in 3 channel. 2 sticks are running at dual channel and one stick at one channel at best. It is entirely possible that all 3 sticks are running in 1 channel. However, could you download and run CPU-Z to confirm?

Also, please take a look at the other similar thread.

Ok, so you are indeed running RAM in triple channel. THanks for confirmation.

Still, $279 is not worth it to move to quad channel and hope to see equal performance difference. If gaming is the only thing that you do, then I would suggest to sit back and enjoy what you currently have as it is a high end system. But, if your needs are different, then I am afraid, I wont be able to help much, unfortunately. But, I doubt that there is any application that will benefit from going from triple to quad channel at an expense of $279. But, I have been wrong before. Lets wait for greater minds than mine to suggest you something.
