1440p 120hz monitors exist?

Im trying to get a 1440p monitor thats above 60Hz and i cant seem to find a monitor thats not 1440p 144hz. i would get 144hz but the gpu im getting cant keep up with the 144hz at high/ultra on most AAA titles/the games im going to play. Do 100hz, 120hz, or even 85hz 1440p monitors even exist???

Since your monitor should be your least updated hardware it won't hurt to get one with a higher refresh as eventually you'll upgrade your other components to be able to fully utilize that monitor. I typically setup mine depending on the type of game, for FPS I usually set the graphics for Low to keep the FPS high and on single player or casual games I'll keep the settings on Ultra/High and FPS around 100.

Also depending on your GPU and if it's within budget I would look at a Gsync or Freesync monitor.

You can buy a 144 monitor and set it to 120 you know... Also it doesn't matter if your video card can't produce 144fps. Its not like the FPS is tired to the monitor performance. The monitor will refresh 144 times a second regardless of the amount of FPS coming in.

My 1440P monitor does 165hz but can be set all the way down to 60hz if I want, though it seems strange to pay for more only to set it to a lower setting.

Most 144 Hz monitors can be set to 120 Hz, 100 Hz, and 85 Hz, you don't have to set them to 144 Hz, that's just the maximum they support.
