Hello,

I have the Asus ROG GL552VW laptop with a GeForce GTX 960M 2GB GDDR5.

My question is, can I use the BenQ ZOWIE XL2720 Monitor at 1080p@120Hz?

I contacted the BenQ support to obtain information about the HDMI version for this monitor, and they told me it is HDMI 1.4.

I also searched about the HDMI version for this graphics card and I found out it has HDMI 1.4b.

Can anyone clear this out of my head please?

Thank you all

It is not possible to have anything higher than 60hz on HDMI right now. In December, HDMI 2.1 will be released, and that cable will allow 120hz if the machine has a HDMI 2.1 adapter built into it. I would go with Thunderbolt/Display Port that would give you 144hz like I have on my XL2720 coming out of my Asus ROG G751JT.

hdmi 1.4b can run 1080p 120hz, but not 144hz. meanwhile the latest hdmi 2.0 can run 4k 60 hz. read wikipedia tho https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI, even test it if you want to
