Hello, I'm planning to build a gaming PC for the 1st time, could you please take a look at these components and be so kind to let me know if anything is incompatible / off / missing / overkill / underkill / stupid / etc.

Mobo: Gigabyte H270-Gaming 3 1151 ATX
CPU: Intel i7 7700 (non-k with stock cooler)
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 FTW 8GB
RAM: G.Skills 2x8GB DDR4 3000Mhz
PSU: Toughpower Grand 650W 80+ Gold
Case: Thermaltake View 27 Mid Tower
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
OS: Windows 10 Home USB Flash Drive
Monitor: 27" 1440p IPS 60Hz (2nd choice: 24" 1440p VA 144Hz but $150 more)

Also, do I need anti-static wrist trap? Should I wear rubber gloves too? Are all the screws can be undone by the same screwdriver? Does the PSU face up or down? Do i need any extra cable or extender of some sort? Any comment is much appreciated, thank you!

you dont need any of this. normally all the screws can be undone by the same, but be prepared. there is only one way to put the PSU dont worry about it. i dont think youre gonna need any extra cable.

the question is: why non k? you got this super machine and its not gonna overclock it? get the K version and some good aircooler (or water cooler, up to you) and get this i7 @4.8-5GHz, get the best out of your build(i mean, the 1080 :D)

and even if youre no OC it, i would get some decent cooler for the I7, he's known for beeing hot guy. dont wanna mess with that.

but yeah, thats an amazing build.

There are tons of videos online on how to install components, that or you can look at some of the Toms How to build a PC' guides.

What are you using the pc for?

Don't you want a 1TB HDD in there so you can store more data, i know some HDD's can be noisy, but its always nice to have one HDD in there for all your junk.

I think this is the kinda of PC user that just wants a powerful pc that will run all his stuff, no faffing around with overclocks or anything else. That pc will do totally fine.

Thou you may want a better cooler, mostly as the stock if very noisy and terrible when stuck on a i7.
Just get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 or a Be Quiet! air cooler.

Everything seems ok, but your motherboard supports only up to 2400 MHz Ram.
So your Ram sticks will run on 2400 not 3000 MHz.

i agree, but it doesnt hurt to try at all :p

I've tried overlocking on my six core i7 6800K (went from 3.60ghz - 4.0ghz across all cores) way back when and from my experience its over-rated. Only really saw like 5% more usage on GPU in some games and the CPU was a tad lower but fan was alot louder and the rooms temp went up 2-5C

Thank you for your response silverfeather.
I thought alot about the K too, but the H270 mobo is not K-ready, I would need at least Z170 or above (even Z170 is a pain to setup for K), so that's another $50; a decent cooler for K is another $50, while I can get by with just the stock cooler for now to see how it goes; and K itself is another $50. I would say $150 for 5% more FPS is just not worth it, plus the risk of overclocking. But yeah, it would be fantastic to get everything over the top :D

Noted, thank you 3freet, it's because the supplier i'm buying from sells 2400 and 3000mhz at the same price :D free future-proof then.

I'm just on a budget right now, so 250gb is enough for OS and 2-3 games, everything else can be stashed in my external hard drive. The original plan was 500gb SSD and GTX 1070, but the 1080 is just $80 more so I traded it off :D Good deal, eh?

A GTX 1080 is complete overkill for 1080p but for 1440p its worth it.

I yes the SSD will be able to fit a few games, probably one big game like Witcher 3/Fallout 4 then some smaller games that you also want fast loading with.
