Badges not showing

I just got my first badge and I was kind of hyped, because I'm new to this site and all. I see everyone else's badges being displayed, but I don't see mine. Is there a certain amount of best answers you need to have it displayed?
I mean, it's not a big deal or anything, I just want to make sure I don't have to do anything on my profile to display them! Do i really just not have the badge yet but it shows it on my profile because it's in progress?

It depends on what tags the posts OP has used, say if an OP used cpu tag then everyone with a cpu badge would have their badge shown. Alternatively you can set your badge as your status and it will show as a text below your profile pic, like i have Ancient set as my status.

in progress means you're not there yet. but working on it. just takes time to get enough BA's for each one. often you'll answer a question and the op won't select any BA. tom's has folks who go through old threads and selects them for the op. so just kep answering and every month or so they worker bees will comb through and you'll get like 20 Ba's all of a sudden from the old threads being selected.

i've had as many as 150 in a month from old threads like that. don't get discouraged as they will come eventually

edit: and i reselected the BA for the OP as he selected it.

Thanks for the info MathGeek ^^^. I was wondering why I would get a bunch of email notifications from time to time on threads that have been inactive for some time. Patience is a virtue.

Yep there's a team contracted to go through old threads and select a best answer. Without looking at exact spellings the names are all Er something. There's an ErVivec and an ErAnkerpaul and maybe one more.


Badges can take a day or so to show up after you get them so be patient.


Sorry Math Geek gonna have to ban you for a month for best answer abuse. ( kidding )

it happens. even some of us older members still mess up here and there.

regular members deslecting and reselecting BA's is generally frowned upon and can get folks in trouble. i only did it cause i've asked before and been told this is an ok reason to select it

welcome to the forum. don't let a touch of confusion ruin your time here. brush it off and dive back in helping others to know what you know!! hope to see you more and more around the forums.
