Hello,
I would like to hear advice on which SSD to choose for VMs and software development. My system is not that well cooled, so temperatures are a concern.
Here are the ones I thought of:

- Samsung 850 PRO 256GB (150TBW, SATA 3.0)
- Samsung 960 EVO 250GB (100TBW, NVMe)
- ADATA SX800 256GB (160TBW, NVMe)

I listed the SATA 3.0 850 PRO as I read it being the most reliable in performance and endurance, and I don't intend to work specifically with multi-gigabyte files and stuff, just low-level software development (C++), VMs for desktop use and relatively heavy multitasking (CPU is i5-7600 if that is relevant).

Basically what I am looking for is a balanced, trusty drive for peace of mind.

I would appreciate any thoughts or pointers on this matter, also personal experiences and additional comments.

Thanks in advance!

850 EVO, instead of the 850 PRO.
No real performance diff, just the Pro gives you a longer warranty.

I have my VM's running on a 960GB Sandisk Ultra II. At least 1 all the time, usually 2, sometimes 4 x VM's.

Endurance is quite important for me and I am willing to spend the premium for the PRO.
Though I am not so sure if my MSI B250 PC Mate has NVMe support for M.2. It does say PCIe mode
