Does anyone have any experience buying PCIe (or PCI) cards from eBay - either used or new? I'm wondering how risky it is. Aren't those things sensitive to static? There's no way to know whether they've been exposed and how much damage they may have sustained.
I need a PCIe card and there's only one currently being made. I tried it and it died within five months and seems to have a manufacturing defect based on user reviews. The USB versions don't work with my computer and are expensive ($50+). But I can get a wide variety of PCIe cards used or new from eBay for $15-$20. I'm just wondering if it's risky? Can they damage my computer?
