FreeSync Setup Help

Hi there. I have a Viewsonic 2757 monitor hooked up to my R9 Fury card using DP 1.2 (selected on monitors OSD).
The Windmill demo works well but some games still don't work unless I enable Vsync.
PubG seems to struggle the most - Vsync Off and tearing is awful.

Could someone give me the proper or official way that Freesync should be configured as there is so much misinformation out there regarding frame limiters and Vsync on/off etc.
I have tried many drivers but am currently on 17.9.2 - someone on a forum seemed to think these were best in recent history.

Any input much appreciated.

R9 Fury XFX Triple dissapation
16 GB DDR 3
Win 10

FreeSync only operates when your framerate is below the monitor's maximum refresh rate. If your framerate is higher then FreeSync will deactivate and it will switch to V-Sync if you have that enabled, or nothing if you don't have V-Sync enabled.

Am I best to have:

A. Vsync on to cap fps at 75
B. Vsync on but cap fps below 75 i.e 73/74
B. Vsync off and cap at 73/74

Most games I play have engine specific frame limiters that I can use for this.

My monitors Freesync range is 47-75
