Should I stay with my Vega 64 with 29in ultrawide or switch to 1080ti & 1440p 27inch

So I'm basically seeking so more educated advice as to gains/benefits to this scenario.

I currently have the vega 64 *sighs* with a 29in LG ultrawide. Gaming is beautiful on it and the ultra wide has been an amazing change to my previous non free-sync 24in. Can somebody give me some more solid rational as to the benefits of switching to not only a 1440p monitor, but switching to G Sync?

Now, while money is not a restraint, I don't want to throw away money if it's not a good switch.
Is there a justified reason to switch or should I stay where I'm at? What are the nuances, if any, in 1440p vs 1080p and free-sync vs g-sync?

From people who have used both are the benefits that much better that it's worth the change..I guess that's ultimately what I'm asking.

G-sync and free-sync are only usefull if your gpu drops below the monitors refresh rate and only withing a certain margin (is a monitor by monitor difference).
G-sync has a wider range of fps that it supports and is a bit better but at a much higher cost than freesync. Spending money on a gtx 1080 or up + a gsync monitor is not worth it just to have a sightly better experience sometimes.

Is 1440p that much more noticeable in a gaming rig than 1080p? If so, would it be better just to go from 1080p free sync to a 1440p freesync with a higher refresh rate?

Depends. If you sit close to your monitor then yes you can even turn of AA then since the res bump is nice. If you sit further away (1m+) then no.

Why can't they make a free-sync 29inch 1440p 144hz monitor, then this wouldn't be a problem at all?!

What do you guys prefer to use for gaming? 1440p or 1080p? My ultrawide is so nice but its only 1080p and 60hz.
