I just got a new video card meaning I gave my brother the only other DVI to VGA adapter we have so they can use their dual VGA LCD monitors.
Its an AMD Radeon HD 6850 with Dual DVI-I ports. I've used this card myself recently when my previous card's heat sink broke away from its mounting bracket. I used it with dual monitors (1920x1080 and a 1680x1050) but we're just trying to get dual 17 inch 1440x900 monitors working.
BOTH Monitors are using DVI-I to VGA adapters as the AMD Radeon HD 6850 has no VGA ports and has two DVI-I ports. I know both adapters work because I was just using the second one today for my second monitor (because I didn't have an extra DVI cable laying around for it). The other adapter has been in constant use with my Brothers computer for their single VGA monitor.
I dont know why Windows 7 isn't detecting the second monitor but at least the second monitor isn't showing "Cable not connected".
OS : Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
CPU : AMD Athlon II x2 270
RAM : 8GB DDR3
GPU : AMD Radeon HD 6850 (1GB)
