My computer build. Am I doing this right?

Hey everyone, some years ago when I bought a new PC, I had great experience with posting my build here first. The community was able to help me save some bucks and find better parts. So I thought I do the same with my new build I am thinking of buying now and and ask you all the questions I still have.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read this and comment. It's much appreciated!

The computer will be used mostly for gaming @1080p and then some video editing. No need for peripherals or windows.
Budget: I don't have a fixed budget. If it makes sense spending a little more, it's ok. But I basically just want to pay for essentials and no "fluff". (less is better)

The currency here is swiss francs. I tried to find the cheapest store for the part here: https://www.toppreise.ch/ (available in english)

My build so far: (Mainboard, SSD and Ram are further down, because I have questions about these parts in particular.)

CPU: i5-8600k 6x 3.6Ghz (4.3Ghz) for 278.-

CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D15 for 85.-

GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1070 WINDFORCE OC 8 GB for 464.-

Case: Nanoxia deep silence 1 Rev. B, black for 100.-
(old but gold, and the GPU and noctua fit)

PSU: CORSAIR TX650M, 650 Watts (CP-9020002) for 94.-
(I am going to have 4-6 HDDs in there, too. Would a 500 watts psu be enough?)

and now the parts I am not sure about and why:

Mainboard:
Asus ROG Strix Z370-F Gaming for 220.-
or
ASRock Z370 Extreme 4 for 180.-

The ASUS seems to me a bit expensive. I do want to have the possibility to squeeze out more of my CPU so overclocking is on the table. But I don't see why I should not get the cheaper ASRock Z370 Extreme 4. Both have 2x M.2 and the AsRock has even 8x SATA 6Gb/s instead of ASUS' 6x SATA &Gb/s...what am I missing?

SSD:
PLEXTOR SSD M8Pe M.2, 512GB, with Radiator (PX-512M8PeG) for 260.-
or
a good SATA SSD like:
Hynix SK Hynix "CANVAS" SL300 Series SL308 - SATA SSD - 500 GB for 180.-
SANDISK Ultra 3D SSD, 500GB (SDSSDH3-500G-G25) for 180.-

Again, I've read for gaming and even some video editing the SSD is not going to bottleneck me. To notice the difference between SATA SSD and the newer M2 types, the workload has to be immense. Does anyone know more?

RAM:
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) 3200MHz for 180.-
(DDR4-DIMM, PC4-25600 (3200MHz), CL16-18-18-36, Low Voltage (1.35V)/Intel XMP 2.0)
or
any cheaper ones?
I've heard clock and timings are less important for gaming...how much could I save here? But they should fit under the noctua.

Thank you guys for your input. Can't wait to hear from the specialists.

Yours sincerely,

Chris

For that price you can get a 1070TI, worth the extr 30.
I've never heard of your case, but if it fits and you like it - go for it.

Ram, prices vary greatly from country to country and reseller to reseller. Might try a global company like pixmania and Amazon to compare prices. The ram you selected is nice.

motherboards. I've had a couple of Asus lemons recently. Their quality control seems to be slipping. The ASRock uses a lot of electricity and is not the best overclocker. MSI godlike if you can afford the price difference is both a better overclocker and uses less electricity.

A SSD will rarely bottle neck anyone. An m.2 is faster. But even with an SSD in my system I never notice the mild differences between it and an m.2. M.2 is undeniably nicer, but to me it is like arguing over which is faster a 600hp car or a 500hp one. Both as fast as I could possibly need. For disks, I prefer the Samsung 850 (when on a budget) or the 960 for luxury. For hard disks (for backups, and so on) I suggest a Hitachi HE drive.

For sure get the 1070ti...

The motherboards, I dont agree, actually asrock got known by their overclocking motherboards, they have oc on the DNA and their bios are really good for that.

Thanks a lot for the answers!

@bjornl
You are right, I'll get the 1070 Ti. The MSI godlike is close to 500.- here. I don't see why I should spend that for the mainboard. I am not going to liquid nitrogen cool my case trying to breake the overclock record.
When you say, you don't notice the difference between your sata SSD and the M2 one, do you also play games and edit videos?

@ohenryy
so you recommend the cheaper Asrock instead of the asus?

@Lucky_SLS:
yeah I've seen the discussions in this forum about the ryzen around 60Hz and the possible benefit of more cores. Thanks for bringing alternatives to the discussion. I like it. But I'll stay with intel again this time ;)

Does anyone else have a comment to the Mainboards or the "problem" sata or m2 SSD?

That does seem a steep penalty for the MSI. The ASRock would then be my choice, good luck with the brand.
I've already given my opinion on SSD vs m.2 (both are very fast, one is faster, the other a better value). I do play games. I do edit videos. I also model (3d work, not traipsing about in weird outfits). Once prices come down to 10-15% then I'd say m.2 is worth it. Until then I would rather have a much larger SSD for the same money. If you are going to edit 4k videos then an m.2 might be a good idea because the added performance will actually save you some time. I want to clear up that I don't own an m.2, I have worked on two systems with them. I thought they were quick to boot but not remarkably so. Similarly I got done what I wanted on them in about the same speed as if it had been a SSD, so this is my opinion not a measured fact or a direct side by side comparison.
