Hello,

I'm trying to build a computer around $1500 (without monitor). I'll use it for gaming and other internet usage (emails, web browsing, streaming etc).

This is what I have so far:

PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/L744yf

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor ($219.58 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Corsair - H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: MSI - B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard ($81.88 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($146.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial - MX300 275GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($84.99 @ Newegg Marketplace)
Storage: Seagate - Constellation ES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.99 @ Newegg Marketplace)
Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card ($538.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Phanteks - Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA - 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($53.98 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Asus - DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($16.29 @ OutletPC)
Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($88.89 @ OutletPC)
Sound Card: Asus - Xonar DGX 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card ($36.89 @ OutletPC)
Keyboard: Cooler Master - Devastator II Wired Gaming Keyboard w/Optical Mouse ($25.49 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $1493.94

In your expert opinion, would you change any component here? Feel free to share if you have any other build in mind.

Thanks!

1. 1600X not worth the money with extra cooler cost. 1600 can oc with stock cooler to 1600X level or more, mine is running @ 3.8G.
2. 2666 a little bit slow for Ryzen
3. PSU no good
4. no sound card needed, motherboard has hdaudio
5. Full tower not necessary, too big.

Thanks a bunch! I do have a few questions:

1. Isn't the liquid cooler better than the stock cooler? I should be able to oc 1600x higher than 4G. Isn't that worth the cost?
2. Any particular reason for changing the GPU from Gaming G1 to DUKE OC?
3. PSU G2 650W costs $25 more. Should I get that instead? I'd think that may put less pressure on the PSU.
4. Isn't ethernet better than the wireless adapter? I'll need good connection for PVP/online gaming.
5. I like the keyboard, but not sure if it's worth the cost.

1. Yes, worth or not is up to you, my 1600 is running @ 3.8 with stock, free of charge, how much diff is 3.8 to 4.0, is it worth the extra $70? your call.

2. blower version is bad, this is one example of better choice, and I like three fan version, better cooling, better reviews. Newegg will give you Destiny 2 for free with the card as well.

3. 550 is more than enough, your system max draw is less than 350W. No need

4. in case you need wireless, you can toss it :)

5. If you don't know, get a cheaper mechanical, search a few on Amazon, plenty choices around $30. Mechanical is definitely better, I can not go back anymore.

You don't have to use up the budget if no obvious improvement, do get a good 1440p 144 Hz monitor, Gsync is preferred.
