TV Monitor Size to use with Notebook. (GTX 1060) Size and distance.

I am looking to get a new TV monitor to use with my notebook, my old Gateway is giving out, (VGA Connected) and seems to be grainy, the pixels seems to look like I lower resolution, but the resolution is correct. Either way, I am probably just going to use the old gateway when I work on PCs.

When I normally use my notebook, I about 15 to 18 in from the notebook screen, but when I am gaming, using the gateway monitor, I am about 30 in away, and just lower the notebook screen, so I can access the keyboard.

I am looking to get a 30 in Smart TV and connect it via HDMI, so I can use it as Smart TV and Monitor.

Would a 30 in TV be a good choice? Consider the distance I will be from the screen?

Or should I get a smaller sized TV like 24 or 27?

The bigger the better IMO. a 30 inch would be nice. A lot of gamers have 30 inch monitors and they’re about a foot or less from it.
