laptop suddenly hard shuts down when using high graphics software

My DELL L502X.laptop with 12GB ram suddenly hard shuts down when running any high graphic software (like any game which requires high graphics).It has an NVIDIA graphic card and laptop even hard shuts down when running with basic graphics not from NVIDIA graphics. Dell recommends 2X4 GB RAMs but I have installed one 4GB and another 8GB RAM as the processor can support 2X8 GB RAM as per chip specifications.

could be heat issue or maybe power issue, have you tried to contact dell/ bring it to their service center? if you haven,t, you might want to do that as it is the easiest way

I think that is not a heat issue.My laptop is not in warranty.

how do you know it isn't? have you monitor the temperature? also do some stress test to make sure your laptop components stable
