New monitor how to get 144hz with laptop

I got a new monitor HP Omen 25" 144 hz:

I have an HP Omen laptop:

Monitor has displayport and laptop has mini DP and USB type C.

How can I get 144hz in my situation?

Your monitor has DisplayPort and your laptop has DisplayPort so use that.

Your monitor has DisplayPort and your laptop has DisplayPort so use that.

My laptop has mini DP, i tried a mini displayport to displayport cable and can't get 144hz in CS GO, unless this one is not the type that I need.

Did you go to settings and change the refresh rate to 144 Hz?

Right click desktop -> Display Settings -> select the external monitor -> advanced settings -> display adapter properties -> monitor tab

Yes i’ve done that, i was thinking of getting an usb-c to displayport adapter and linking the DisplayPort cable to it

It should, assuming the USB port has video-out capability. Not all USB-C ports have it, it's an optional feature.

I had the monitor retrieved to hp cause i was having frame skipping issues, lets see how it goes and then i will test it again
