Put my laptop into safe mode now have black screen with cursor

I put my laptop into safe mode and it never shows the sign in screen now. It loads up normal but just leads to a black screen with my mouse. Sticky keys comes up when I hit shift but after clicking ok nothing happens so that's a dead end too. Tried doing f11 and f8 when it starts up but that didn't work. Any advice?
