Security settings tab on file/folder

Solution

Completely unknown.
I know *I* wouldn't do it.

Absolutely.
If you enable or disable the wrong user group...it will no longer work.

What are you planning on doing and why?

I was hoping to at least make myself the owner so I can copy EVERYTHING to my 4TB D drive. I have been having problems with being restricted from manipulating random files even know I am the admin. I wanted to give myself full absolute control so there are no problems with the copy paste

Define "everything".
And why?

Alternately, why not use one of the current cloning/imaging tools to do this?

Macrium Reflect
Make an Image of the C drive, off to another drive.
Create a Macrium Rescue CD or USB.
Later, if you wish to recover that Image (of the entire C drive as it was), boot from that Rescue thing and do it.

Just a simple copy/paste will NOT do what you seek.

Now...if you're talking about your programs and applications...to paste back after a full reinstall...that will not work either.
You can't copy/paste applications like that.

Where are these files that is preventing you from copy/paste to a different drive?
Not the folders/Libraries they live in, but rather the individual files.

For instance...if you select and copy your 'Documents' folder...that folder carries the NTFS permissions of your current user. You can copy it, but later access might be a pain.
The files within it it do not. You can copy/paste them freely, to wherever.

If you can't, then your system has other issues.

Also, this is why MS recommends NOT using the insider builds for your daily driver system.
