So im getting an SSD after Black Friday and I would like to boot up from there and place some games from steam and such onto it. Ive seen some tutorials online about a software that can transfer Windows to the SSD, but it clones it... Not moving it, which I've heard can cause errors on where to boot from. Any tips?

Use a cloning pgm. But chances are, your SSD will end up with the wrong partition alignment unless the cloning pgm corrects for it. That slows it down a tad. But even then, the partition alignment can be fixed by running something like Mini Tool.

1. What size is the proposed SSD? (If you say 120GB or smaller, stop right there and don't do it)
2. How much total consumed space on your current HDD?
3. What, exactly, consumes this space?
4. What OS is this?

A cloning operation can work if you are careful.
Depending on answers to the above, specific steps to follow.
