Install OS on ssd with hdd plugged in

Hello, I have built a pc a few months ago but I want to format it. Thing is that I havent installed the os the previous time( I know how to install windows) My new pc has both ssd and hdd so I have no clue how to install windows on this machine. I guess Ill just select the ssd and format everything on the windows install screen?

Unplug the HDD , reattach it after windows install to the SSD.

When I unplug my HDD after a few seconds it says there's a problem and computer shuts down. OS is on HDD so if I'm online installing Windows to SSD and unplug the HDD it all shuts down.
