I have a predator helios 300 ph517 and an acer gn246hl 144hz monitor. From alot of research I know the monitor hdmi port won't support 144hz only the dual link dvi-d does. My laptop has hdmi 2.0 and vga. I also realize that there is no Dual dvid to hdmi 2.0 adapter. However if I get a dvid to hdmi adapter might I be able to get 1080p at 120hz? Even tho the hdmi will still be only a single layer.

Solution

No, DVI to HDMI adapters will be limited to 60 Hz. If your laptop has only HDMI, then it is impossible to connect to that monitor at more than 60 Hz. Return it and buy a different monitor.
