I have 3 monitors already and have a gtx 1080ti so i have the power to push them. Wondering if they would be better for gaming of if i should sell them for 1 1440 ultrawide.

Solution

Bargin basement at the extreme resolution. Gonna have to make some compromises.

Here are the leading candidates:
PCPartPicker part list
Monitor: Acer - B326HK YMJDPPHZ 32.0" 3840x2160 60Hz Monitor ($649.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: AOC - C4008VU8 40.0" 3840x2160 60Hz Monitor ($599.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Samsung - UH850 31.5" 3840x2160 60Hz Monitor ($625.01 @ Newegg Marketplace)
Monitor: AOC - U3277PWQU 32.0" 3840x2160 60Hz Monitor ($499.99 @ B&H)
Monitor: LG - 32UD59-B 32.0" 3840x2160 60Hz Monitor ($396.00 @ B&H)

Also not on parts picker...
Most games don't support multi-monitor.
Most games don't completely support 21:9 ultra wide either. Also in trying these out, I found they were pretty short.

Do the separate screens bug you when gaming? It would me.

I suggest you get to a store and look at some of the 21:9 monitors in person. I strongly urge you to get a g-sync model because unless you're just playing mindcraft there will be times when a 1080ti can't keep a 3440x1440 over 100fps.

What I did, after trying several options (including 4k) is settle on 32" 1440p as the best mix of size, resolution and dpi for me.

43" IPS for 399. Has an issue with ghosting, otherwise good.

I strongly recommend against the 27-28 4k screens. The DPI is just too high. I bought 5 of these for work, and one for myself. Everyone hates them.

no the screens i got have very little edge so its cool. Just wondering whats the best option for me, one 4k, ultrawide 1440 or keep the 3x 1080p i have im sure the 1080ti can handle most fine maybe not ultra on all at 4k.

Well... it's anecdotal of course, but I just got a really nice 3440x1440 34" wide monitor, one of those Korean budget ones, and it's very nice. I haven't played a lot of different games, but World of Tanks has worked fairly well. I did have to disable shadows, I dunno why, but I did. Shadows under tanks is pretty pointless anyway, so no loss. Looks great, big improvement over my old 27" 1080p. My monitor is 3MS and 144 hz, although I run it at 100hz for compatibility, which seems to make it less buggy.

By the way, my graphics card is nothing special and it has run fast all the time, although I keep the rez at medium setting. I really just care about killing tanks efficiently.
