Hey guys!

Let me start off by telling you my configuration and then I will ask you for opinions.

My PC specs:

Ryzen 7 1800x
Gskill Flare x 16gb DDR4
GTX 1080 Aorus Extreme Edition

1080p 27inch curved monitor

I saw one of those Acer XB271HU monitors and I would like one, yet I would have to put like 2 months of work with my local prices.

However I am not sure if I should spend a big amount of money on this one as I am not an fps gamer, nor competitive but I love quality and games to look as good as possible (also, I never experienced anything past 60fps). Should I wait for HDR monitors? Should I get maybe 1440p 60 fps for a budget friendly and still good quality monitor?

Or I could just keep the 1080p monitor and buy a PS4 pro and 4k HDR TV. In the past I had a ps4 pro and while I enjoyed those 3-4 exclusive games, it gathered dust after and sold it because the games were a bit slower than what I used to get on all those years of PC. I don't want to sound spoiled but I noticed those 30 fps and Bloodborne for instance even had stutters that annoyed me often.

So I am very undecided. Should I get a top of the line gsync monitor? Should I wait for one with HDR? Should I just go really casual and switch to PS4 with a big 4k HDR TV? Or just a 2k 60hz monitor?

Thanks and hopefully I didn't rambled to much...

Personally I went with a 65 inch OLED HDR 4k TV over a better monitor. Now I have my PC in the living room with a nice surround sound setup and the tv. Input lag isn't an issue unless you are really hardcore about always winning in highly competitive twitch shooters.

As for HDMI you have nothing to worry about. I have a GTX 1080fe and it handles HDMI 2.2 just fine although one thing I will mention is nvidias default color setup for HDR is a bit off in Windows but NOT in games. So I run Windows with HDR off and then just let the game handle it if it's supported and the results have been fantastic. Games look significantly better in HDR.

Some people will scoff at input lag but I've been PC gaming since before GPUs were a thing, im...

So many options bro, I dunno. I have been very happy gaming today with my new 3440x1440 34" monitor. It is pretty sweet. I bought one of the off brand Korean ones off of E-bay for $499 delivered. 3MS and 100 hz makes World of Tanks pretty sweet. I think its better for gaming than a 4k TV. And for productivity, it is pretty nice as well. The letters and such seem crisper than my old 1080p monitor. And having all that extra real estate is definitely nice. The improved hz also seems less straining on my eyes. But it's all what you use it for I guess. If TV is your gig, then go for that.

Edit to add: Mine is Freesync, not Gsync. I dunno if it matters much. I haven't seen any problems, but I mainly just play WoT which works great with it.
