Looks like oil in my water

My smelt like it was on fire. No lights came on as a warning or anything. Check oil level and looks ok. Check water and there is a funny oil looking film on the top.? Is that something to worry about and the water looks a very dark colour? About a month ago it had it's head gasket done. It's a 04 plate Peugeot 307 hdi 1.6 diesel

I would actually suspect the head gasket. There should be no oil in the coolant. I suggest taking back to where you had the previous work done and have this checked out. Good luck.
