How do I use my Laptop as a display for my desktop

Hello Everyone! Recently my screen broken on my monitor so I'm in need of a new one but don't want to but anything. I was wondering g if there was anyway I could set my desktop computer up to broadcast directly into my old laptop so that I can use my laptop as a display and also utilize the keyboard on the laptop. Let me know if you have questions so we can figure this out as soon as possible. Thanks!

No you cannot do that without some fancy hardware and software that would cost more than a new monitor.

My laptop has a vga port though does that help?

it helps if you want to display your laptop on a monitor, but not the other way around, it's an output port, not an input port.
