Reason for upgrading:
Updating a light gaming PC on a budget. Looking for "best bang for the buck" considering the current system and cpu prices. Would like to leave some space for future upgradings as well. I suppose that Pentium g3258 processor is already bottlenecking the overall performance seriously, so that will have to be changed. For the moment the most played game on system is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and the user has claimed that FPS is low. Actually I do not know the exact needs of this game and whether it really can utilize a faster CPU?

Parts to Upgrade: CPU

Current system:
-motherboard: AsRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer (socket 1150)
-CPU: Intel Pentium g3258 (overclocked to 4 GHz)
-RAM: 16 GB (DDR3-1600MHz)
-GPU: GeForce GTX 780 (3 GB)
-OS: Win 10 Pro (64-bit)
-Drive: 256 GB SSD
-PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 620W
-Monitor resolution: 1920x1080

SLI or Crossfire: For the moment no, but actually do have another GTX 780 as a spare that could be used if it makes sense?

All the ideas concerning upgrading are wellcome, in general os more specific level.
Thanks!

I would upgrade the CPU.

Check eBay for used processors. Select Buy It Now and sort by lowest price. Get whichever fits your budget.

*Note the i7 will need a better aftermarket cooler if you're using the stock Intel cooler. Hyper 212 EVO or Cryorig H7 would work.

Thanks for info, especially the prices of i5-CPUs seem tempting.
For the moment the system is running a CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 Evo cooler. I suppose it is a bit better than stock cooler of g3258. But is it not enough for i7?
