Why cant i run 144hz? (only 60 and less)

So I have a rx480, this cable and this monitor
I installed drivers
Why cant i go to 144hz? Im fairly confident the cable should be able to run 144hz

I had the same issue as the third person until I installed the monitor drivers which unlocked other thing like 50hz and 59hz but still nothing above 60. Please help :)

Running 144 Hz requires Dual-Link DVI. That's only a Single-Link DVI cable. All DP/HDMI cables you will find are Single-Link only, even if they claim to be Dual-Link.

You need a DL-DVI active adapter like this...

But I would recommend returning the monitor and getting one with DisplayPort.
